THE COMIC VAULT
STORYTIME! So, like most kids, I grew up on a steady diet of comics and cartoons. My brain was a sponge that showed no limits to absorption, and for a long time I was convinced that a profession in art was my path. That all came to an abrupt halt on the first day of my junior year of high school when a new art teacher came in and gave a class summery about the direction for the year. Cast your minds back to 2001, a time when digital art just started to make it’s way out of the professional graphic artist studio and became available to the public to explore and create. Mind you, this was years before the first smart phone existed, let alone an iPad or tablet. Now picture a young and brazen 16 year old me, raised on traditional hand drawn art, with a strong dislike of change, a contrarian streak a mile wide, and unusually rare luddite tendencies for a millennial. That’s what I like to call a suboptimal combo for an artist still in school. Welp, the moment she finished reading the syllabus that emphasized working on computers and exploring digital art I stood up, held out my hands emphatically, and said “IT’S NOT ART UNLESS YOU MAKE IT WITH YOUR HANDS!” I proceeded to walk directly to photo class and never looked back. In fact, I didn’t meaningfully draw and explore art until about fifteen years later. The irony is that now I SOLELY create comic books digitally. Funny how life takes silly turns like that…
Anyways! Here are the comics I’ve worked on starting back in 2019. It’s been a wild ride so far, and hopefully with a little luck (more like a LOT of luck) this is only the beginning of something truly magical. All I’ve ever wanted to do is share my art in turn with a world that has inspired me so much. Cheers!
